Important Update
On June 17, 2003, the Court approved the Settlement.

This site has been establish to provide information on the settlement of a class action lawsuit pending in Guilford County, North Carolina, in the General Court of Justice, Superior Court Division, entitled Veronica D. Romig v. Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company (Civil Action No. 95 CvS 9703). The settlement resolves claims made on behalf of certain individuals who purchased certain life insurance policies marketed and sold by Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company.

The Class Action involves all persons who as of December 31, 2002 or on the date policy terminated owned one or more current Assumption Life and/or Excess Interest Whole Life policies issued by Jefferson-Pilot from September 1, 1986 to December 31, 2002, all persons who, on December 31, 2002 or on the date the policy terminated owned one or more Participating Whole Life and/or Participating Limited Pay Life polices issued by Jefferson-Pilot from January 1, 1982 to March 31, 1992 from the 1982 rate books for such policies and the beneficiaries of any deceased insured's under the policies listed in one of the categories.
